The conflict monitor is the most important safety device in a traffic signal control cabinet. Periodic testing is the only way to ensure that the conflict monitor is reliably detecting unsafe conditions that may occur within the cabinet.

Most manufacturers recommend that each conflict monitor be tested at least annually to verify that it is functioning properly.

A history of well documented certification test reports can show a pattern of regular maintenance and help to disprove a charge of negligence.

The PCMT 8800 will test CMU and MMU units as defined by NEMA TS1, NEMA TS2, FHWA/CalTrans System 170, and ODOT/TXDOT 2070 Standards.
